Summary

The primary goal of this grant is to accelerate the deployment and uptake of advanced, multi-modal AI-driven solutions in medical imaging across healthcare and research settings in the European Union. The initiative aims to leverage and expand the Cancer Image Europe platform, integrating diverse data types such as imaging, genomics, and real-world data to enhance clinical utility and cost efficiency. The project will focus on developing new data services and user tools for data curation, quality assurance, compliance, and risk management, all aligned with the European Health Data Space (EHDS) framework. Multi-centre validation studies will be conducted to generate robust evidence for the clinical and economic benefits of these AI solutions, supporting their adoption in screening, diagnosis, and patient care. Additionally, the grant emphasizes the training and upskilling of healthcare professionals to ensure effective use of the deployed technologies.

Eligibility for this grant is directed towards organizations capable of building on the Cancer Image Europe platform, including those with expertise in AI, medical imaging, data management, and healthcare delivery. Applicants should be able to demonstrate capacity for multi-centre validation, integration of multi-modal data, and compliance with EHDS regulations. Collaboration with other EU health data infrastructures and projects is encouraged to maximize interoperability and data integration.

The anticipated impact includes improved efficiency and patient outcomes through the adoption of cutting-edge AI in medical imaging, enhanced data quality and security, and strengthened interoperability across European health data platforms. The project will also contribute to the digital transformation of healthcare, supporting personalized medicine and fostering a robust ecosystem for AI innovation in Europe.
