Summary
The primary goal of this grant is to complete the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) by integrating new entities from countries associated with the Digital Europe Programme that have not previously participated. These hubs will provide comprehensive digital transformation services to local SMEs, mid-caps, and public sector organizations, with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) and green digital technologies. EDIHs will act as central access points for digital expertise, offering services such as technology testing, workforce training, access to finance, and fostering innovation ecosystems. The initiative aims to bridge technology gaps, promote the adoption of European AI solutions, and support the EU’s climate and strategic autonomy objectives. EDIHs will collaborate with AI innovation infrastructures, ensuring a seamless digital journey for clients and accelerating the deployment of ethical, human-centric AI technologies.
Eligibility is focused on entities from countries associated with the Digital Europe Programme that have not yet participated in previous EDIH calls. Each EDIH must provide a full suite of services, targeting mainly SMEs, mid-caps, and public sector organizations conducting non-economic activities. Services must be delivered transparently and non-discriminatorily, and EDIHs are required to actively participate in the Digital Transformation Accelerator’s support activities and ensure interoperability with network tools.
The impact of the grant will be measured through key performance indicators, including the number and diversity of entities served, uptake of AI solutions, triggered investments, and cross-border collaborations. EDIHs are expected to increase digital maturity among clients, foster the adoption of European AI technologies, and strengthen local and cross-regional innovation ecosystems. By facilitating access to advanced digital and AI resources, EDIHs will drive economic growth, enhance public services, and contribute to Europe’s digital and environmental goals.
