Summary
The primary goal of the Capacity Building in VET in Sub-Saharan Africa initiative is to enhance the relevance, accessibility, and responsiveness of vocational education and training (VET) institutions and systems in third countries not associated with the Programme. The action seeks to drive sustainable socio-economic development by fostering international cooperation among VET organizations from EU Member States, associated countries, and non-associated third countries. Through joint initiatives, the project aims to increase the capacity of VET providers, particularly in management, governance, inclusion, quality assurance, and innovation. A key objective is to strengthen the engagement between VET institutions and the private sector, enabling the development of demand-oriented and opportunity-driven VET interventions that are closely aligned with labour market needs and local, regional, and national development strategies.
Eligibility for this grant is centered on organizations active in the field of VET, forming multilateral partnerships that include entities from EU Member States, associated countries, and third countries not associated with the Programme. The focus is on collaborative projects that bring together public and private stakeholders to improve VET systems in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The anticipated impact of these capacity building projects includes improved quality and responsiveness of VET, enhanced labour market relevance of skills provision, and stronger links between VET providers and employers. The initiative also supports broader policy objectives, such as the Global Gateway investment packages and the development of Talent partnerships, contributing to the attraction and development of skills and talent in line with EU strategies.
