Summary

The PRIN 2026 Hybrid programme is aimed at financing fundamental research projects characterized by multidisciplinarity, promoting structured interaction between complementary disciplines, particularly between humanistic and technical-scientific domains, including through the use of innovative technologies.

The programme supports collaborative research through consortia projects designed to foster integration across different fields of knowledge, with proposals evaluated based on scientific quality, feasibility, and coherence of the research approach.

Projects are triennial and must involve multiple research units (minimum four, maximum six) from different institutions. Each project must request funding between €1,000,000 and €1,200,000.

Eligible beneficiaries include Italian universities (public and private), public research bodies supervised by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), and AFAM institutions. The programme funds 100% of eligible project costs, with the exception of certain personnel costs which remain covered by the participating institutions.

The total available budget for the PRIN 2026 programme is €259,889,354, distributed across ERC macro-sectors (Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering, Social Sciences and Humanities).
